ᅟᅟ「[[note0#031|比丘]]們!有這四種現在的世間中存在的人,哪四種?未具足聞[^1]的少聞者、具足聞的少聞者、未具足聞的多聞者、具足聞的多聞者。比丘們!而怎樣一個人是未具足聞的少聞者?比丘們!這裡,某一種人有少聞:修多羅、祇夜、記說、伽陀、優陀那、如是語、本生、未曾有法、[[note7#740|毘富羅]],他對他的少聞不了知義理、不了知法後,不是[[note0#058|法、隨法行]]者,比丘們!這樣,一個人是未具足聞的少聞者。
ᅟᅟ比丘們!而怎樣一個人是具足聞的少聞者?比丘們!這裡,某一種人有少聞:修多羅、祇夜、記說、伽陀、優陀那、如是語、本生、未曾有法、毘富羅,他對他的少聞了知義理、了知法後,是法、隨法行者,比丘們!這樣,一個人是具足聞的少聞者。

ᅟᅟᅟ他們以二者呵責他:從戒與以聞。
ᅟᅟᅟ又如果是少聞者,在戒上善安置者,
ᅟᅟᅟ他們以戒稱讚他,他的聞達成。
ᅟᅟᅟ又如果他是多聞者,在戒上未定置者,
ᅟᅟᅟ他們以戒呵責他,他的聞不達成。
ᅟᅟᅟ又如果他是多聞者,在戒上善安置者,
ᅟᅟᅟ他們以二者讚賞他:從戒與以聞。
ᅟᅟᅟ多聞的、[[note7#763|持法的]],有慧的佛弟子,
ᅟᅟᅟ如閻浮檀金金幣,誰適合斥責他?

ᅟᅟ 6. “Cattārome, bhikkhave, puggalā santo saṃvijjamānā lokasmiṃ. Katame cattāro? Appassuto sutena anupapanno, appassuto sutena upapanno, bahussuto sutena anupapanno, bahussuto sutena upapanno. Kathañca, bhikkhave, puggalo appassuto hoti sutena anupapanno Idha bhikkhave, ekaccassa puggalassa appakaṃ sutaṃ hoti– suttaṃ geyyaṃ veyyākaraṇaṃ gāthā udānaṃ itivuttakaṃ jātakaṃ abbhutadhammaṃ vedallaṃ. So tassa appakassa sutassa na atthamaññāya dhammamaññāya dhammānudhammappaṭipanno hoti. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, puggalo appassuto hoti sutena anupapanno.

ᅟᅟUbhayena naṃ garahanti, sīlato ca sutena ca.
ᅟᅟ“Appassutopi ce hoti, sīlesu susamāhito;
ᅟᅟSīlato naṃ pasaṃsanti, tassa sampajjate sutaṃ.
ᅟᅟ“Bahussutopi ce hoti, sīlesu asamāhito;
ᅟᅟSīlato naṃ garahanti, nāssa sampajjate sutaṃ.
ᅟᅟ“Bahussutopi ce hoti, sīlesu susamāhito.
ᅟᅟUbhayena naṃ pasaṃsanti, sīlato ca sutena ca.
ᅟᅟ“Bahussutaṃ dhammadharaṃ, sappaññaṃ buddhasāvakaṃ;
ᅟᅟNekkhaṃ jambonadasseva, ko taṃ ninditumarahati.
