ᅟᅟ大海亦有食,非無食。何謂大海食?答曰:『雨為食。』有時大雨,大雨已,則山巖溪㵎(澗)、平澤水滿;山巖溪㵎(澗)、平澤水滿已,則小川滿;小川滿已,則大川滿;大川滿已,則小河滿;小河滿已,則大河滿;大河滿已,則大海滿。如是,彼大海展轉成滿。
ᅟᅟ如是,具惡人已,便具親近惡知識;具親近惡知識已,便具聞惡法;具聞惡法已,便具生不信;具生不信已,便具不正思惟;具不正思惟已,便具不正念、不正智;具不正念、不正智已,便具不護諸根;具不護諸根已,便具三惡行;具三惡行已,便具五蓋;具五蓋已,便具無明;具無明已,便具有愛。如是,此有愛展轉具成。

ᅟᅟ比丘們!像這樣,無善人的親近充滿者使無正法的聽聞充滿;無正法的聽聞充滿者使無信充滿;無信充滿者使無如理作意充滿;無如理作意充滿者使無念、無正知充滿;無念、無正知充滿者使根-無自制充滿;根-無自制充滿者使三惡行充滿;三惡行充滿者使五蓋充滿;五蓋充滿者使無明充滿;無明充滿者使有的渴愛充滿,有的渴愛這樣有食物與這樣充滿。
ᅟᅟ比丘們!猶如在天下大雨時,在有大雨的山上,那個依向下流動的水使山洞、裂縫、支流充滿,充滿的山洞、裂縫、支流使小水池充滿,充滿的小水池使大水池充滿,充滿的大水池使小河充滿,充滿的小河使大河充滿,充滿的大河使大海洋充滿,大海洋這樣有食物與這樣充滿。同樣的,比丘們!無善人的親近充滿者使無正法的聽聞充滿;無正法的聽聞充滿者使無信充滿;無信充滿者使無如理作意充滿;無如理作意充滿者使無念、無正知充滿;無念、無正知充滿者使根-無自制充滿;根-無自制充滿者使三惡行充滿;三惡行充滿者使五蓋充滿;五蓋充滿者使無明充滿;無明充滿者使有的渴愛充滿,有的渴愛這樣有食物與這樣充滿。

ᅟᅟ比丘們!猶如當天下雨時,大雨下在山上,向下流的雨水使山洞……(中略)大海洋這樣有食物與這樣充滿。同樣的,比丘們!善人的親近充滿者使正法的聽聞充滿……(中略)明、解脫這樣有食物與這樣充滿。」
